Energy Assistance Program

Michigan Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) – September 2019

Michigan Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) – September 2019 1000 1000 St. Vincent de Paul Detroit

We have some MEAP funds remaining so you can continue to send in applications through September 6.

As we prepare for 2020 suggestions for improvement are always welcome – please either call or email me. The 2020 MEAP Grant Proposal was submitted on August 16. We will communicate our award amount when notified – hopefully by mid-September. We are making plans to strengthen the self-sufficiency services provided through MEAP but of course all plans are contingent on the award amount. More details to come!

For all MEAP questions/information please contact Sharon Lynch at 313.393.2692 or slynch@svdpdetroit.org, or Jasna Leova at 313.393.2801 or jleova@svdpdetroit.org

Michigan Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) – July 2019

Michigan Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) – July 2019 1000 1000 St. Vincent de Paul Detroit

2019 MEAP funds are running low so the last day we will accept applications is Monday July 8.

As we prepare for 2020 MEAP we welcome your feedback and suggestions for improvement. I realize many of you wish to return to the 2018 and prior MEAP rules however this will not be an option for 2020. We will continue to roll with the changes as we have done this year and will make every effort to even out the hills and valleys. Thank you to those who participated in the survey that Debbie Jackson sent out a few weeks ago. If you did not receive it and wish to respond please let me know. Thank you for your patience with the program changes this year and for your continued service to our neighbors in need.

For all MEAP questions/information please contact Sharon Lynch at 313.393.2692 or slynch@svdpdetroit.org

Michigan Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) 1000 1000 St. Vincent de Paul Detroit

LSP enrollment is closed however we still have MEAP funds for:

  1. Paying the customer’s copay as stated on their SER decision letter – all utilities, up to the $2000 cap
  2. Making a payment for a customer who has already received an SER payment since Oct 1 – all utilities , up to the $2000 cap
  3. CARE enrollments (Consumers Energy customers)
  4. MAP enrollments (SEMCO customers)

Please encourage your Consumers Energy and SEMCO customers to enroll in CARE and MAP. Customers enrolled in CARE pay only 60 – 70% of their bill each month depending on their income – the remainder of the bill is paid with MEAP funds. Customers enrolled in MAP pay a low monthly budget amount and get a MEAP credit on their bill each month.

Thank you for your patience with the program changes this year and for your continued service to our neighbors in need.
