Michigan Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) – July 2019

Michigan Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) – July 2019 1000 1000 St. Vincent de Paul Detroit

2019 MEAP funds are running low so the last day we will accept applications is Monday July 8.

As we prepare for 2020 MEAP we welcome your feedback and suggestions for improvement. I realize many of you wish to return to the 2018 and prior MEAP rules however this will not be an option for 2020. We will continue to roll with the changes as we have done this year and will make every effort to even out the hills and valleys. Thank you to those who participated in the survey that Debbie Jackson sent out a few weeks ago. If you did not receive it and wish to respond please let me know. Thank you for your patience with the program changes this year and for your continued service to our neighbors in need.

For all MEAP questions/information please contact Sharon Lynch at 313.393.2692 or slynch@svdpdetroit.org

  • We are pleading for help……..at St Raymond conference….we have been working hard on the MEAP program for a number of years…….2 years ago 240,00 dollars was brought to the East side of Detroit…Last year 190,00 dollars this year 90,000……Our Parish and our conference has not grown in volunteers….In the past 9 months ,we have received 324 requests to assistance along with 150 applications for meap for people living in zip code areas 48205, 48089 and other areas when needed….Of those 150 meal applications, 86requests for food clothing beds appliances rent and water bill were received from clients outside St.Raymond OLGC Parish area…bringing added stress on the conference…….Please let us know how our conference can handle an average of 8 calls a week plus and average of 3.5 meap applications a week…….This conference is always looking for more and better ways of answering the door to the Church…….Some conferences don’t understand the problem that we are having……….because their case load isn’t as heavy……or they don’t sit and listen to each client……..giving out food and clothing is needed but there are many more needs
