Stores Truck Driver

The Truck Driver is responsible for the safe pickup, delivery and movement of all donated clothing, furniture, and other designated items throughout the Detroit metropolitan community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete daily truck safety and operation inspection before leaving warehouse and upon return
- Review and understand the daily route manifest schedule
- Drive to each stop reflected on manifest loading and unloading merchandise in a safe, orderly, and neat manner
- Place merchandise in designated areas when unloading at warehouse
- Maintain cleanliness of truck including cab and box daily
- Submit all truck expense receipts daily.
- Responsible for “Clean Outs” of drop boxes or stores and “church drive bundle Sundays” when assigned
- Be friendly, courteous, and respectful when servicing a donor or neighbor-in-need
- Ability to work and get along with others
- Other duties may be assigned

Education / Experience / Licensing
- Posses a valid Michigan Chauffeurs Driver’s License
- Mapping / routing experience
- Excellent customer service skills including experience in assisting all people in a friendly, professional, courteous manner
- Knowledge of geographical area
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience with pallet jacks and other warehouse tools preferred
Language Skills
Ability to speak effectively and courteously with customers and fellow employees of SVdPD.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure and possess the ability to use a calculator.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Must utilize critical thinking and problem solving skills daily.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, bend, and reach. Manual work, inside and/or outside, is required frequently. This job requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. The utilization of pallet jack, dolly, and tools is required. Valid chauffer’s license is required.

The SVdPD Warehouse is a typical warehouse environment. The noise level is moderate. The employee will also be exposed to various types of weather during the pickup, delivery, loading, and unloading process.
