- How We Help
Friendship. Faith. Service. From friendship, to faith, to service, no form of support is foreign to St. Vincent de Paul.
We exist to build a more equitable and compassionate world through meaningful personal relationships, providing whatever is needed to help our neighbors get back on their feet and on a path towards self-sustainability. Our programs provide support ranging from utility, housing, and food assistance, to education and mentorship, and more.
How We Help
We restore our neighbors' faith in their futures, exemplifying Gospel values in everything we do, while enriching spirituality among our members.
We make a positive impact through service in our community, connecting our neighbors with resources that address immediate needs and support their long-term growth and stability.
Home Visits
As we build meaningful relationships with our neighbors through our unique home visits, we connect them with programs that will help them thrive.
Energy & Rent Assistance
We distribute more than $3.6M in utility assistance and $900K in rent assistance annually. We also provide ongoing energy-use education to ensure our neighbors keep their lights on and their homes warm.
Stores & Donation Centers
Our thrift stores provide our neighbors with access to quality items at a discounted price. Every dollar spent in our stores goes towards supporting our neighbors in need.
Camps
Each year, we provide hundreds of qualifying children with the opportunity to attend our overnight summer camp on the shores of Lake Huron at no cost.
Education & Mentorship
We provide education on topics such as budgeting, household management, and more, while also helping our incarcerated and recently released neighbors effectively transition into society.
Matchan Nutrition Center & Food Depots
We serve hot, well-balanced meals to our neighbors in need at our Matchan Nutrition Center and provide access to non-perishables at our food depots in Metro-Detroit.
