Society of St. Vincent de Paul Detroit Receives Consumers Energy Grant to Help Neighbors with Energy Costs
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Detroit has received funding from Consumers Energy Foundation to help Metro Detroit neighbors struggling with energy costs during the winter months.
The grant is part of Consumers Energy's $5 million commitment to support more than 33,000 Michigan households facing high energy bills. SVdP Detroit will use these funds to provide direct energy assistance to families in our service area who are experiencing financial hardship.
"We're grateful for Consumers Energy's partnership in helping our neighbors stay warm and safe this winter," said Mary Lynn Faunda Donovan, CEO of SVdP Detroit. "Energy assistance is one of our most critical programs, and this funding allows us to serve more families who are struggling to keep their lights and heat on."
The grant comes as many Michigan households face higher heating costs during the coldest months of the year. SVdP Detroit's Energy Assistance Program helps neighbors avoid utility shutoffs and maintain safe, warm homes for their families.
In 2024, SVdP Detroit distributed $3.9 million, supporting 5,091 households with utility assistance across Metro Detroit.
