Premieres Nov. 28 on EWTN SVdP Season Two of Podcast, Our Faith in Action - 11-16-2022
Season two of the podcast, “Our Faith in Action: Today’s Society of St. Vincent de Paul,” premieres with a special one-week event November 28 through December 2 at 5:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. CT on EWTN Global Catholic Network.
The series follows SVdP members, known as Vincentians, on their spiritual growth journey through service to people and families in need. From the Society’s traditional Home Visits (where they bring friendship and aid to neighbors in need), food pantries, and assistance with rent and utilities, to innovative health care, financial and mentoring programs, Vincentians see the face of Christ in those they serve. In this series, Vincentians volunteer across the country to bring effective, personalized help to people in poverty and share their stories of Christ’s love along the way.
Airing November 28, the first episode of the season, titled “Finding New Beginnings,” will join Vincentians in Chicago, Cincinnati, and Detroit as they prepare kids for the upcoming school year, offer returning citizens a new career path, and work to shrink barriers for friends in need through the Bridges to HOPE program. The full podcast lineup includes episodes:
- Episode 11: Finding New Beginnings (Chicago, Cincinnati, Detroit)
- Episode 12: Feeding Minds and Bellies (Orlando, Madison, Phoenix)
- Episode 13: Homelessness and Home Visits (St. Louis, Los Angeles, Huntsville)
- Episode 14: Helping Friends in Need Find Success (Seattle, Louisville, Austin)
- Episode 15: Building Faith in People of All Ages (Fort Wayne, Atlanta, Lane County)
The one-week event of Our Faith in Action: Today’s Society of St. Vincent de Paul will air daily on EWTN cable channels from November 28 – December 2 at 5:30 PM EASTERN / 4:30 PM CENTRAL. “We are excited about Season Two of Our Faith in Action! It’s been a real labor of love and collaboration between our National Council and local groups across the country,” said SVdP National President Ralph Middlecamp. “We hope that when viewers see what Vincentians do in their communities through these shows, they will want to put their own faith into action and come join us!”
Two unique aspects of the Society are the spiritual growth of members and visits with people in poverty in their homes, both of which are highlighted throughout the series. The Society is composed of women and men who seek to grow closer to God through works of charity. In this way, the Society differs from other charitable agencies whose principal objective is simply about doing good for someone else. The Society is unique in its emphasis on helping members grow spiritually through their service to others. Meeting with people in their homes, as friends, shows the importance of treating people in need with dignity and respect, a hallmark of the Society.
Since its founding in Paris in 1833, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul has grown to 800,000 members in over 150 countries with 1,500,000 volunteers. Vincentians understand that service to a neighbor in need is an encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ, and are aware that poverty, suffering, and loneliness are present for millions in our communities. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s work is unique in that Vincentians offer tangible assistance to those in need on a person-to-person basis. This aid may take the form of intervention, consultation, or through direct financial or in-kind service.
