Our the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Rule and Manual specify that every Conference and Council have a President with the special responsibility for promoting Vincentian spirituality.

To assist this, the President appoints the Spiritual Advisor to provide inspiration, reflection, and guidance for living our Vincentian Mission in the spirit of the Gospel.
